Jennifer L. Thompson has been the Associate Dean of External Relations at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver since September, 2004. Prior to that Jennifer was the Director of Development for GSIS starting in September 1995. As the first director of development for this unit, she has developed, implemented and currently oversees a major gift fundraising action plan for the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. The plan has included recruiting and training quality volunteer leadership; identifying and cultivating prospective contributors, facilitating solicitation by the Dean of GSIS and others, personally soliciting major gifts from alumni, corporations, foundations and friends; and, providing appropriate recognition and stewardship of donors.
During this timeframe, Jennifer participated in the University of Denver’s $254 million capital campaign, which included raising capital funds to renovate Ben Cherrington Hall, the home of the Graduate School of International Relations.
With her prior background in marketing and public relations, Jennifer also works closely with the university’s office of communications and marketing on most aspects of the development of media relations and publications, particularly as it relates to fundraising and special events.
Prior to joining the University of Denver, Jennifer was with the international, non-profit organization, Up with People for 16 years. She was first the Vice President for Promotion and Marketing and then later for External Relations.
Jennifer is currently a board member with Boulder Humane Society and previously served on the board of Impact formerly known as the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools. Jennifer also served on the board with the Make A Wish Foundation and currently volunteers on the development committee of the Jubilee Center in North Denver.
